What is the Admission Policy?
St. John's has an Open Enrollment Policy for any child who desires to attend the school and is five years old by September 1 of their first year of kindergarten. Students wishing to come into grades 1-8 may be admitted after a review of report card and test scores and an interview with the school principal. Non-Discrimination Clause: The school admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded to, or made available to all students. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of our education and admission policies, scholarship and loan programs and athletic or other school administered programs. Any child is eligible to attend St. John's based on the ability of the school to meet the needs of the individual child as well as the needs of the school community as a whole.

What are the Admission Procedures?
During the formal registration period, students will be accepted in the following order:

A. Children of families currently part of the St. John the Baptist School community
B. Children of parents/guardians who have previously had children in St. John the Baptist School
C. Children of active St. John the Baptist parishioners
D. Children of non-parishioners (Catholic)
E. Children of non-parishioners (non-Catholic)

After the formal registration period, students will be accepted by the date registration forms and fees were received. Waiting lists are established when grades are filled.

Interested families are encouraged to visit and tour St. John's, meet with our principal/administrators, explore the curriculum and meet SJB students, teachers and current school families. Incoming students in grades 4-8 are also encouraged to spend time in the classrooms via scheduled classroom "shadow" visits.

When is the formal registration period?
Registration is opened for current school families in mid-January. Open meetings are conducted in January for all interested kindergarten and preschool families (Preschool Round-Up; Kindergarten Round Up). Registrations for new families are accepted following the Round Ups. Pending space availability, new registrations/transfer students are accepted year-round.

What is the tuition?
Transition day kindergarten - (1/2 day Sept. - Dec.; Full Day Jan.-June) - $ 3,985
Full-day kindergarten and Grades 1-8 - $4,425

Are there other financial obligations in addition to tuition?
ONE-TIME Non-Refundable Registration Fee: $300 per kindergarten student
$100 per each new student grades 1-8

Annual School Fee (covers science and art supplies, class events, playground costs, Parent Teacher organization costs): $100 per student

Annual Technology Fee (covers state-of-the-art computer leasing): $140 per student

Annual FACTS Tuition Management Company Fee: $41 per family

Annual Volunteer Obligation: 20 hours per family or $200

Two major (mandatory) fundraisers at St. John's:

- The Non-Public School Marathon in October (each student collects a minimum of $100 in pledges)

- The Wines to Wishes Gala held the last Saturday of January or the first Saturday of February ($80 contribution per family - includes two tickets to gala event)

Is financial aid available?
A limited amount of financial aid is available for qualified families. An outside agency, FACTS Tuition Management Company, assists the school in determining eligibility based on income, expenses, savings, debt and special circumstances. To apply, visit

How are tuition and fees paid?
FACTS Tuition Management Company handles tuition billing and collection. There are three payment options: - Payment in Full - Due August 1st. There is a $100 per family discount for this option. Semester payments: Due in August and January. Monthly payments - Over a period of 10 months, beginning in August.

Each family receives an itemized statement from FACTS in mid-July. Families paying in full may pay by check, bank transfer or credit card with a 2.5% convenience fee. Parents selecting the Semester or Monthly payment options may select bank transfer or credit card with a 2.5% conveience fee. Bank payments are made by having the funds transferrred by your bank on the 5th or the 20th of the month. Using Mastercard, Discover or American Express, a "convience fee" of 2.5% is charged. Is transportation available?
Free busing is provided for students within District 621 boundaries living more than 2 miles from the school. Busing is provided for a fee for those within District 621 boundaries living within 2 miles of the school.

Limited mileage reimbursements from area counties/school districts may be available for those living outside District 621 boundaries. (Reimbursement policies vary by school district). Reimbursement forms are provided by the school office at the end of each school year to those living outside District 621. (Forms are submitted at the end of the year for the previous year. Reimbursements are based on mileage distance between home and school and student daily attendance records).

What are the hours of the school day?
School Hours (including Full-Day Kindergarten Option): 9:15 AM - 4:00 PM
Transition-Day Kindergarten Option mornings Sept. - Dec.: 9:15 AM - Noon

Is an extended day program available?
St. John's J-Care provides flexible, extended care services from 6:30 - 9:15 AM and 4:00 - 6:00 PM, Monday-Friday. J-Care is open to all SJB students entering K - Grade 8. A J-Care registration form is required to attend.

Is lunch available at school?
Milk (white and chocolate) may be purchased for 50 cents/carton; Lunches may be purchased for $2.50/day grades K-5, $2.75/day grades 6-8. Individual student debit accounts are maintained. USDA food guidelines are followed. 

Parents are invited to join their child for lunch with 24 hour prior notice. Parent/grandparent lunches cost $4.00/adult.

Where can I purchase school uniforms?
Uniforms are available at Donalds Store in St. Paul ( In addition, previously owned uniform sales are held each summer prior to the start of the school year and again mid-year during the Catholic Schools Week Open House at the end of January.

St. John's spirit wear apparel (not mandatory but recommended) is available for order during the first few weeks of the school year ONLY. Spirit Wear t-shirts are available for under $10/piece. (Sweatshirts, windpants, fleece vests, hats, etc. are also available). Spirit Wear may be worn on bi-weekly Friday "spirit" days as well as other occassions including our school marathon. Samples are available at "Meet My Teacher Night" in late August; order forms are available from apparel provider Rita Spiess that evening and throughout the first week of school via the school office.
