"THANK YOU!!"

"THANK YOU!!"
Here, in their own words, are what some of our students have to say about attending SJB School:

1st Grade:

"Thank you for sending me to St. John the Baptist School. I am thankful for all the girls and boys. They are all my friends."

3rd Grade:

"I am thankful to go to Saint John's because we get to learn and talk about Jesus. I am also thankful for going here because we have a bully-free program. Last but not least, I am thankful for going here because we get to go to Mass each week.

"Thank you for sending me to St. John's. I like St. John's because it has nice teachers. We meet lots of new friends at St. John's."

"Thank you for sending me to Saint John's because I can be closer to God. I can make good friends. I can make improvements throughout the year."

"Thank you for sending me to St. John's so I can learn about Jesus. We can attend Mass and religion class, too. They have safe rules here, too."

4th Grade:

"I am thankful for my teachers because they are really nice, kind, and cool. I am thankful for my principal because she takes care of the school and she makes sure that our school is bully free."

"I am thankful for my teachers. They help me when I get stuck on a problem and they review things so we don't forget. I am thankful that I can talk about my religion freely. At some schools they can not do this. I am thankful that I get to go to mass every Wednesday and learn about Jesus."

5th Grade:

"I am glad that this school has prayer partners. My prayer partner is very nice to me. What I like about prayer partners is that if you show a good example, your prayer partner will look up to you. Then when your prayer partner comes to fifth grade, hopefully, they will show a good example to their prayer partner!"

"I have met lots of friends at this school, and everyone is so kind to each other. I like the Bully Free program that we have on Thursday. It helps me learn how to stand up for people and not bully other people. I also enjoy having prayer partners. This year my fifth grade class is the older prayer partner with the second graders. Every month we do a craft project with them. The crafts that we make go to a nursing home across the street."

6th Grade:

"Everyone at St. John's is very friendly, inclusive and always willing to help those who need it. I am very proud of our school because of all we do to help those who are less fortunate such as collecting food for the food shelf on School Spirit Days and during Advent."

"The thing I am most grateful for about St. John's is the one on one time with the teachers. They really try their hardest to make sure we understand the lesson."

Jr. High:

"School reminds me to be thankful for the Holy Spirit's guidance, God and Jesus, God's mercy, being able to receive Jesus Christ through the Eucharist, priests, deacons…and other servants of God, the saints and my teachers who are an example of how to live the faith."

(Transfer student from a public school):

"Here are some things I like about St. John's: it's bully free, people are so friendly, the lunches are great, we get recess, we go on a lot of field trips, the teachers are fun and nice, we have Mass every Wednesday morning, the homework amount is perfect, we celebrate holidays, we celebrate birthdays, there is no swearing at all, we have the S.P.A.C.E. program, its safe, we have an awesome drama program, and classes are just right and not too hard! So thank you SO MUCH. I absolutely LOVE going to school now and I have so many great friends!"

SJB School Exceeds Expectations

SJB School Exceeds Expectations
Congratulations to SJB Principal Mrs. Sue Clausen for being awarded the 2012 Readers Choice Award for Best Principal by Sun press readers in Columbia Heights and Fridley!

This honor joins those previously awarded to St. John's via the Readers Choice Awards: "Best Private School", "Best Preschool" and "Best Teacher" (Preschool teacher Miss Mary Ann Dircks), and speaks to why our school currently has a wait list for some grades.

"Students were talking about their [former] schools," shares a current Totino-Grace High School teacher. "[A former SJB student] made a comment about St. John's and said, 'That is a Class A school! I'm serious. That is a great school!' [This young man] is just one of many students who talks highly about SJB. You are truly doing an amazing job with your school and your staff….I [and others] can see that the students we teach who come from SJB are very well prepared for high school in so many aspects. They are academically prepared as well as morally and behaviorally prepared. They exhibit respect, maturity and self-discipline. I commend you on the outstanding job that SJB is doing with the students….[they] are receiving a quality education, while also being taught to be well-rounded young people. Thank you for everything that you do."

To learn more about all St. John's offers, we invite you to attend a "Principal's Coffee" on Friday, Feb. 17th from 9:30 - 10:30 am or schedule a private visit and tour by calling 651.633.1522 or emailing Melissa at . We look forward to welcoming you!
